Yoga for Real Life is a four-week beginner program designed for people who have never set foot on a yoga mat — especially stiff desk workers, busy adults 40+, and anyone who thinks they are not flexible enough for yoga. Across six focused video sessions you build the foundations step by step: breathing, basic poses, strength, balance, and flexibility.
No pretzel poses, no Sanskrit quizzes — just clear instruction, honest encouragement, and modifications for every pose, including chair support, block options, and gentler versions so the program fits your body. Four weekly themes build on each other: Foundations and Breath, Building Strength, Flexibility and Balance, then Flow and Mindfulness.
All you need is a mat (or any non-slip surface), blocks or sturdy books, a strap or towel, and water. If you can get down to the floor and back up — with a chair nearby for support — you can do this program. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor first, and always move in a pain-free range.
What's included
- 6 video sessions (~7 minutes each) — one instructor, filmed so every pose and modification is clear: a welcome session, four weekly themed sessions, and a technique walkthrough
- Written session guide for Week 1 — pose lists, hold times, breathing cues in plain language
- 4 weekly themes that build: Foundations and Breath, Building Strength, Flexibility and Balance, Flow and Mindfulness
- Modifications for every pose — chair support, block options, gentler versions
- Lifetime access — repeat the program or individual sessions as often as you like
Frequently asked questions
▶I've never done yoga. Will I be lost?
Not at all. Week 1 is called Foundations and Breath for a reason — every pose is introduced from scratch, with what to do, how to breathe, and where you should feel it. You will never be expected to know anything in advance.
▶I have bad knees or a bad back. Can I still do this?
Almost certainly yes. Every pose comes with a modification — bent-knee options, chair-supported standing poses, and blocks to bring the floor closer. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor first, and always move in a pain-free range. Discomfort from stretching is fine; sharp pain is a stop sign.
▶How much space do I need?
Just enough to lie down on your mat with your arms stretched wide — roughly 2 by 2 metres. A corner of a living room or bedroom works perfectly.
▶What if I miss a week?
Nothing breaks. The program is self-paced with lifetime access. Missed a week? Just pick up where you left off — the Week 1 session and guide are always there if you want a refresher. Consistency beats perfection: one focused session a week is still a win.
